Ipswich Decline £35m Bid for Hutchinson

Ipswich has rejected a £35m offer from Brentford for winger Omari Hutchinson. The offer did not meet Hutchinson's relegation release clause as it was not an upfront cash payment. Although the clause has expired, Brentford, led by new manager Keith Andrews, remains interested in the 21-year-old player. However, there is hesitation from Brentford to meet Ipswich's valuation for Hutchinson, prompting them to explore other options.

Hutchinson, who joined Ipswich from Chelsea for £20m last summer after a loan spell at Portman Road, is being considered as a potential replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, a target for Manchester United. Mbeumo, a 25-year-old winger from Cameroon, has not yet left Brentford despite two rejected offers from United, with the latest offer valued at up to £62.5m. Hutchinson contributed three goals in 31 league games last season as Ipswich was relegated back to the Championship under manager Kieran McKenna.

In addition to his club performance, Hutchinson recently achieved success with England Under-21s by winning Euro 2025, scoring in the final against Germany in Bratislava. Ipswich has already sold striker Liam Delap to Chelsea for £30m after his impressive 12-goal season. Meanwhile, Brentford has been active in the transfer market, securing signings such as former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool, Antoni Milambo from Feyenoord, and making Michael Kayode's loan from Fiorentina permanent.
