
Irish Author's Daughter Leaves £340k to Sinn Féin
Pegeen O'Sullivan, the daughter of Irish author Liam O'Flaherty, left nearly £340,000 to Sinn Féin in her will after passing away at the age of 96 in England three years ago.
Liam O'Flaherty, her father, was a prominent Irish literary figure in the early 20th Century. Pegeen O'Sullivan was known as a lifelong Republican who actively supported causes like prisoner assistance.
According to records from the Northern Ireland Electoral Commission, Pegeen O'Sullivan, also known as Ms. Elizabeth, donated £338,550.17 in cash to Sinn Féin, with the party accepting the donation in May 2025.
During her funeral in 2022, Sinn Féin TD Maurice Quinlivan praised Mrs. O'Sullivan as a committed activist who participated in protests well into her 90s, emphasizing her strong opposition to partition.
Liam O'Flaherty, born in 1896 on Inishmore island, served in World War One before becoming a political activist and a renowned writer. He passed away in Dublin at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy of novels and a reputation as a visionary rebel.
