Isak excluded from Newcastle pre-season tour squad
Newcastle signed Isak from Real Sociedad for around £60m in 2022. Isak is considering a move away from Newcastle this summer after missing the pre-season tour of Asia due to a minor thigh injury. Despite interest from top clubs in Europe, Newcastle has maintained that Isak is not for sale.
Liverpool remains interested in signing Isak, even after securing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe confirmed Isak's inclusion in the squad for upcoming games in Singapore and South Korea. Isak scored 27 goals in 42 appearances for Newcastle last season but was absent from a recent pre-season match against Celtic.
Newcastle has rejected a £70m bid for Ekitike and is also eyeing Brentford forward Yoane Wissa. The club's stance on Isak's future remains firm as they aim to retain their squad for the upcoming season. Isak has three years left on his contract, and Newcastle is not under pressure to sell due to their financial stability.
Newcastle will face Arsenal in Singapore before playing a K-League All-Star team in South Korea and Tottenham. The club's owner, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), has set a reported valuation of £130m for Isak. While other Premier League clubs have shown interest, Newcastle's financial position allows them to resist pressure to sell.
