Jerry Jones: Dak Prescott 'Indispensable', Micah Parsons 'Wasn't'

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones explained why he gave quarterback Dak Prescott a big contract but did not do the same for now-Green Bay Packers linebacker Micah Parsons. Jones stated that Prescott was essential to the team, while Parsons was not. The Cowboys and Packers game on Sunday ended in a 40-40 tie.

Parsons was traded to the Packers in late August after contract negotiations with the Cowboys broke down. He had been holding out during training camp and preseason games. With the Packers, Parsons signed a four-year, $188 million extension with $136 million guaranteed.

This trade came a year after the Cowboys signed Prescott to a four-year, $240 million contract with $231 million guaranteed and a no-trade clause. Jones faced criticism for trading Parsons, a key player, and failing to secure a contract extension with him, continuing a trend of disputes with Cowboys players.

Parsons' trade added anticipation to the game between his old and new teams. However, he had a relatively quiet performance, making only a few impactful plays, including a sack that stopped Prescott from scoring in overtime. Jones acknowledged Parsons' talent and impact on the game but accepted the tie result and stood by his team's performance against Parsons.
