Jose Mourinho admits not recognizing Fenerbahce VP

Fenerbahce Manager Claims Ignorance of Vice-President Identity

Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho stated that he does not know who the vice-president of his club is during a press conference before their Champions League qualifier against Benfica in Lisbon. The team, including former Premier League players Fred and Davinson Sanchez, is set for the second leg after a goalless draw in Istanbul.

Vice-president Hamdi Akin's confident statement about Fenerbahce easily winning against Benfica did not sit well with Mourinho, who expressed his lack of familiarity with Akin during a press conference. Mourinho mentioned not being introduced to Akin and being unaware of his role within the club's structure.

This surprising revelation comes despite Akin's previous support for Mourinho when he faced accusations of making racist remarks towards Galatasaray earlier in the year. Fenerbahce defended Mourinho against these allegations, denouncing them as a misrepresentation of his comments about the opposing team's behavior during a match.

Following the incident, Mourinho received a four-match ban and a fine exceeding £35,000 from the Turkish Football Federation. The Fenerbahce team is scheduled to play Benfica at the Stadium of Light in their upcoming match.
