Justin Rose Secures 12th PGA Tour Title in Play-Off

Justin Rose and JJ Spaun tied at -16 in the St Jude Championship, leading to a sudden-death play-off. Rose emerged victorious on the third hole, claiming his 12th PGA Tour title. This win marks Rose's first PGA Tour victory in over two years, overcoming his recent loss to Rory McIlroy at the Masters.

Rose and Spaun both hit par on the first sudden-death hole and birdied the second. However, Spaun failed to match Rose's birdie on the third hole, granting Rose the championship. Meanwhile, Tommy Fleetwood, who led into the final round, finished one stroke behind Rose and Spaun, tied for third with Scottie Scheffler.

Fleetwood expressed disappointment at missing out on his first PGA Tour win, acknowledging the strong performances of Rose and Spaun. Despite his runner-up finish, Fleetwood holds the record for the highest PGA Tour earnings without a victory. He remains optimistic about his performance and aims to secure a win soon.

Rose's victory makes him the first player in his 40s to win on the Tour this season. His last title was at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February 2023. Rose's stellar performance included a run of four consecutive birdies from the 14th hole. He expressed satisfaction with his win and highlighted his belief in his ability to compete at the highest level.

The top 50 players in the FedEx Cup standings from the St Jude Championship will advance to the BMW Championship, the next event in the PGA Tour's play-off series.
