Lana Del Rey Mentions Ethel Cain in New Song Amid Public Feud

Lana Del Rey has seemingly intensified her public dispute with emerging alt-pop singer Ethel Cain.

In an Instagram video shared on Wednesday, Del Rey, 40, previewed a song from her upcoming album with lyrics referencing Cain's reaction to a 2024 photo of Cain with Jack Donoghue, Del Rey's alleged ex-boyfriend and Salem band co-founder. The song also alludes to a 2022 New York Times headline about Cain being "the most famous girl at the Waffle House."

Following Del Rey's teaser, Cain claimed on her Instagram Story that Del Rey had blocked her and Del Rey later accused Cain of body-shaming her in the past.

Cain gained prominence in 2022 after releasing her debut album, Preacher’s Daughter, and recently started her Willoughby Tucker Forever tour in support of her new album, Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You. The album has received positive reviews, with tracks like “F*** My Eyes” and “Nettles” becoming popular on Spotify.

In a four-star review, The Independent’s Louis Chilton described Cain’s album as a “dark, Lynchian coming-of-age story,” noting its cohesiveness and depth for listeners to explore.
