Lando Norris fends off Piastri in Hungarian Grand Prix

Lando Norris won the Hungarian Grand Prix, securing McLaren's 200th victory by fending off his teammate Oscar Piastri in a close race. Norris' strategic driving reduced his championship deficit to Piastri to nine points before the Formula 1 summer break. George Russell of Mercedes claimed the final podium spot, overtaking Charles Leclerc towards the end as the Ferrari struggled after starting from pole position.

Norris recovered from falling to fifth place on the opening lap by adopting a bold one-stop strategy. Piastri, on fresher tires, attempted to pass Norris in the closing laps but was unable to overtake on the challenging track. Fernando Alonso and his protege Gabriel Bortoleto also opted for one-stop strategies, finishing fifth and sixth respectively.

Lewis Hamilton, starting from 12th place, finished in the same position after a challenging race with a suboptimal strategy. Norris' victory seemed unlikely at the start when he lost positions, but he managed to regain ground as Piastri battled Leclerc for the lead.

Piastri closed the gap to Norris towards the end but was unable to overtake despite attempting bold moves. Norris extended his tire stint, ultimately securing the win with a one-stop strategy. Leclerc's pace dropped in the final stint, allowing Russell to pass him and claim third place.

Alonso controlled his pace early on to preserve his tires and secured a strong fifth-place finish. Leclerc faced issues with his car after a pit stop, resulting in a drop in performance and a penalty for erratic driving. Russell's aggressive driving paid off as he overtook Leclerc to claim the final podium spot.

Aston Martin's strong performance with Alonso and Stroll moving up the constructors' championship standings. Liam Lawson of Racing Bulls finished eighth, ahead of Max Verstappen's Red Bull and Kimi Antonelli's Mercedes in the final points position.
