Lions vs Chiefs: QB Jared Goff's Touchdown Denied in Chaos
An illegal motion penalty nullified a touchdown in the NFL game on Sunday night in Kansas City, described by fans as the 'coolest' of the season.
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff initiated a play at the goal line, moving left behind receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown near the pylon. Goff, who was split wide, received a throwback pass from running back David Montgomery and managed to score against Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie with the help of a blocking St. Brown.
Initially appearing to be a clear touchdown and a 6-0 lead at Arrowhead Stadium, Goff was penalized for not establishing himself in the backfield before moving out wide.
Goff was penalized for delay of game while disputing the non-reviewable call with officials, forcing Detroit to settle for a field goal and a 3-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Goff redeemed himself with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Jameson Williams, giving Detroit a 10-6 lead over Kansas City with almost 13 minutes remaining in the half.
