Liverpool Turns Down Bayern Munich Offer for Luis Diaz, Player Desires Transfer

Bayern Munich has made an official proposal to sign winger Luis Diaz from Liverpool. The 28-year-old Colombia international is a key target for Bayern, with their initial offer of €67.5 million (£58.6m; $78.8m) being rejected by Liverpool. Despite Liverpool valuing Diaz at over €100m, they have stated that he is not for sale.

Diaz, who joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022, is in the final two years of his contract at Anfield. He has expressed his desire to leave, but Liverpool considers him an important part of their future plans. The club has communicated this stance to Bayern, Barcelona, and other interested parties.

During the 2024-25 season, Diaz played a significant role in Liverpool's Premier League title win under Arne Slot, scoring 13 goals in 36 appearances. He has made 148 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 41 goals and providing 23 assists in all competitions.

Liverpool has rejected offers for Diaz from Bayern and Barcelona, emphasizing that he is not available for transfer. The club is not in a rush to extend his contract, which expires in 2027. However, Liverpool may consider a substantial offer, likely exceeding the £50m they paid Porto for Diaz in 2022.

Liverpool correspondent James Pearce believes that Diaz's value to the team outweighs any potential transfer fee. Despite interest from top clubs, Liverpool remains firm in their decision not to sell Diaz. They are also focused on recruiting a new striker and may reluctantly negotiate if a significant offer, possibly around £80m, is made for Diaz.
