Loanee Evan Ferguson Nets Four Goals in Roma Debut

Evan Ferguson has been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award after a successful 2022-23 season.

The striker, on loan at Roma, made a remarkable debut by scoring a hat-trick in 24 minutes and four goals in total. He joined the Serie A team on a season-long loan and scored within eight minutes against UniPomezia, a Serie D promoted team.

In his first match, the 20-year-old scored with a header, a high shot into the net, and a close-range finish for his hat-trick. He later added a fourth goal by firing low into the bottom corner before being substituted.

Roma, managed by Gian Piero Gasperini, won the game 9-0 in their second pre-season match. Ferguson moved to Roma on loan from the Seagulls due to injuries and a loss of form in the past 18 months.

Before his impressive performance at Roma, he had only scored once at club level since November 2023.
