
Malcolm-Jamal Warner, 'Cosby Show' Star, Passes Away at 54
Malcolm-Jamal Warner, known for his role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, passed away at the age of 54 in June 2023.
He drowned while on vacation in Costa Rica, where he was swept out to sea by a strong current while swimming at Playa Grande in Cocles.
Local authorities confirmed his death, stating that bystanders rescued him but he was declared dead at the scene despite efforts by the Costa Rican Red Cross.
Warner, who played Bill Cosby's son on The Cosby Show, was Emmy-nominated for his role in 1986 and was chosen by Cosby himself during a nationwide audition.
Following The Cosby Show, Warner appeared in various TV shows including Malcom & Eddie and The Resident, winning a Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance in 2015.
He also released a spoken word album and started a podcast discussing mental health in the black community.
Tributes poured in from former co-stars and fans, with Magic Johnson, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Niecy Nash among those mourning his passing.
