Man United Increases Bryan Mbeumo Bid to £70M to Outdo Spurs
Manchester United have made a new offer of £70 million to Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo in an attempt to break the deadlock in their negotiations. This offer includes £65 million plus £5 million in additional payments. The previous bid of £62.5 million was rejected by Brentford, but United are hopeful that this improved offer will convince the club to sell Mbeumo, who has expressed his desire to move to Old Trafford.
If the two clubs reach an agreement, Mbeumo would still need to undergo a medical examination before joining United. It is unlikely that he would be available for their upcoming pre-season friendly against Leeds on Saturday, but he could potentially join the team for their pre-season tour in the US next week. Mbeumo would be United's third signing this transfer window, following Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon.
Ruben Amorim, the head coach of United, has been keen on strengthening the attacking areas of the team and is awaiting Brentford's response to the offer. Mbeumo, who scored 20 goals for Brentford in the last Premier League season, has attracted interest from other clubs like Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham, where he could reunite with his former Brentford manager, Thomas Frank.
United's pursuit of Mbeumo is driven by the need to improve their goal-scoring record, as they scored only 44 goals in the previous Premier League season, the second-lowest among non-relegated teams. Since joining Brentford in 2019, Mbeumo has scored 70 goals in 242 games, establishing himself as a prolific attacker in the Premier League.
Former United defender Rio Ferdinand has emphasized the importance of completing the deal, warning that failure to do so would be embarrassing for the club. Ferdinand highlighted Mbeumo's qualities and expressed confidence that the transfer would go through, urging United to finalize the deal before the end of the transfer window.
Brentford recently shared a video of their players returning to training, with Mbeumo among them. The forward seemed in good spirits as he arrived at the training ground, interacting with staff and teammates.
