Manchester United started their pre-season with a friendly match against Leeds United in Sweden. Matheus Cunha, Manchester United's £62.5 million signing from Wolves, made his debut in the match. Bryan Mbeumo, who is yet to officially join from Brentford, did not play. The focus is now on the upcoming Premier League games, with Leeds playing Everton on August 18 and Manchester United facing Arsenal a day earlier.
During the match, Dalot set up Dorgu for a shot that went over the bar in the 92nd minute. Three minutes of added time were played. United had several chances towards the end, with shots from Dorgu and Mount missing the target. Leeds defended well, with Hojlund hitting the bar and clearing the ball.
In the second half, Leeds made substitutions, bringing on Charlie Crew for Gruev. Dalot sent a cross to Hojlund, whose header missed the target. Dorgu's penalty appeal was dismissed by the referee, and Meslier made a save. United introduced Jack Fletcher for Bendito Mantato. Leeds also made changes, bringing on Harry Gray and Sam Chambers for Bogle and Tanaka. Ramazani had another chance but was denied by Heaton.
