Manchester United Reach Out to Brighton About Carlos Baleba Transfer

Manchester United have reached out to Brighton & Hove Albion through intermediaries to discuss a potential deal for midfielder Carlos Baleba.

Baleba, a 21-year-old player with three years remaining on his Brighton contract, is gaining recognition as a highly-rated midfielder. Brighton is not looking to sell him this summer.

Despite interest from various clubs, including Manchester United, Brighton has expressed their desire to keep the Cameroon international, who is contracted until 2028 with a possible extension of 12 months.

It is acknowledged by all parties that a transfer this summer may not be feasible, especially if Manchester United finalizes a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. United may need to sell players to afford new signings in key positions.

Manchester United is looking to strengthen their squad under head coach Ruben Amorim. They are also in search of a mobile midfielder, in addition to a striker.

Carlos Baleba joined Brighton in 2023 from Lille for a deal worth nearly £26 million ($34.5 million) with add-ons. He has become a promising young midfielder in the Premier League, making 40 appearances last season and representing Cameroon seven times.

Analysis by Manchester United correspondent Carl Anka describes Baleba as a key player for Brighton, excelling in defensive duties and interceptions. He is known for his ability to regain possession and maintain control in midfield, contributing to the team's performance.
