Mariners pick Bryce Miller for ALCS Game 1 vs Blue Jays
Bryce Miller pitched four scoreless innings in his first playoff start for the Seattle Mariners but was removed in the fifth inning. He has been named as the starter for the American League Championship Series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. Kevin Gausman will start for the Blue Jays in Game 1.
The Mariners used their other starters in a long game against the Detroit Tigers, securing a spot in the ALCS. Miller, who missed part of the season due to injury, returned to the rotation in August. He will be pitching on three days' rest for the first time in his career.
Seattle's Bryan Woo, an All-Star starter, has been out due to injury but is expected to pitch at some point in the ALCS. The Mariners' president of baseball operations has not finalized roster decisions yet.
