Mingus, son of Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen, arrested for assault in NYC.
Mingus Lucien Reedus, the son of actor Norman Reedus and supermodel Helena Christensen, was taken into custody in Manhattan on Saturday morning after an alleged assault. The 25-year-old reportedly struck a woman, causing visible redness on her leg, and then choked and slammed her to the ground, as per the New York Post. The New York Police Department confirmed the arrest but stated that Reedus has not yet been formally charged.
Reedus made a 911 call around 8:40 a.m. reporting a woman in an apartment on West 16th Street who was allegedly taking pills and threatening self-harm. Upon police arrival, the 33-year-old woman accused Reedus of assaulting her. The woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital and found to be in stable condition.
Reedus was seen smiling as he left the 10th precinct in Chelsea, heading to central booking. When asked by a reporter about the incident, Reedus replied, 'I didn't,' and declined to provide further details. He described the altercation as 'a misunderstanding' before being shut inside a police car. A woman claiming to be Reedus' girlfriend also referred to the incident as a misunderstanding.
In a previous legal issue in 2021, Reedus accepted a plea deal after allegedly punching a woman during the San Gennaro Festival. He was sentenced to five private counseling sessions after pleading guilty to a downgraded charge of disorderly conduct. Reedus claimed self-defense, stating that the woman and her friends had harassed him.
Mingus Reedus, who has followed his mother's modeling career, was involved in the September incident where his victim was hospitalized. He claimed the women involved were looking for a fight and harassed him and his friends. The incident occurred shortly after his Vogue cover debut alongside Parker Van Noord. Mingus is the only child of Helena Christensen. Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen dated from 1998 to 2003, and Reedus later had a child with Diane Kruger in 2018.
