Minnesota senator injured in deadly political shootings moves out of intensive care

Senator John Hoffman, who was injured in a shooting incident in June along with his wife, has been discharged from the intensive care unit. His wife, Yvette Hoffman, was released five days after the attack and confirmed his move out of ICU on Monday.

A spokesperson for the couple, Bess Ellenson, stated that Senator Hoffman is now at a rehabilitation facility. A photo provided by Yvette Hoffman shows her husband smiling and giving a thumbs-up.

According to NBC affiliate KARE of Minneapolis, Hoffman will undergo multiple operations at the acute care facility where he will stay for several weeks. The senator, residing in Champlin, was shot nine times during the incident.

During the shooting, Yvette Hoffman was also injured. Their daughter, Hope, called 911 after the attack, which helped police locate two other Democratic leaders in the Twin Cities region targeted by the suspect.

The shooter, Vance Boelter, has been charged with stalking and murdering State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman, in addition to attacking the Hoffmans. The U.S. attorney for Minnesota described the incidents as "targeted political assassinations."
