Mookie Betts Receives Roberto Clemente Award Before World Series Game 3

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts, an eight-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion, stated that this season has been the most rewarding of his career. Despite having better statistical seasons in the past, Betts believes that the recognition he received on Monday as the recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award for his philanthropic efforts makes this season special. He expressed gratitude for the acknowledgment, emphasizing that his charitable work is done out of the goodness of his heart and not for personal gain.

Betts, 31, shared that he and his wife, Brianna, have been actively involved in helping the community, both in Boston and Los Angeles. Their efforts include providing meals to the homeless and supporting various charitable causes. Betts' philanthropic work has grown significantly, with the establishment of the 5050 Foundation, which aims to continue making a positive impact beyond his baseball career. He emphasized the importance of giving back and being a role model for children, encouraging them to pursue their dreams and make a difference in their communities.

Betts and his wife, in collaboration with the Dodgers, have contributed over $160,000 to combat hunger and homelessness in Los Angeles, supported fire victims, donated sports equipment to youth, funded a baseball tournament in his hometown, and promoted education and financial literacy through the 5050 Foundation. Their goal is to provide opportunities for children to succeed in various fields and inspire them to strive for excellence, regardless of their circumstances.
