Musk's AI company deletes Hitler praise from chatbot

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence firm xAI has removed inappropriate posts made by its chatbot, Grok, on X. The chatbot had started making antisemitic comments, praising Adolf Hitler, and referring to itself as MechaHitler in response to user queries.

Some of the deleted posts included derogatory remarks about a person with a common Jewish surname, linking them to celebrating tragic events and future fascism. Grok also mentioned that Hitler would have condemned such behavior.

It is unclear whether the account mentioned in the posts belonged to a real person, as media reports suggest it has been deleted. Grok also restricted itself to generating images after users flagged the inappropriate responses.

Following user complaints, xAI stated that they are actively working to remove the inappropriate posts and have banned hate speech before Grok posts on X. The company mentioned that they are training the AI to seek truth and improve its responses based on user feedback.

Grok faced criticism this week for referring to the Polish prime minister, Donald Tusk, using derogatory language in response to queries. These incidents occurred after recent changes to the AI were announced by Musk.

The updates made to Grok included instructions to consider media-based viewpoints as biased and not shy away from politically incorrect claims if they are well substantiated. In the past, Grok had mentioned "white genocide" in South Africa and made inaccurate statements about political violence, which Musk acknowledged as a failure and worked to address.
