Newly Released Video Shows Jeffrey Epstein Walking to Prison Cell Before Death

CCTV Footage of Jeffrey Epstein's Cell Released

CCTV footage from outside Jeffrey Epstein's cell has been released six years after his death. The footage, totaling around 11 hours, was taken at the Metropolitan Correctional Centre in New York City on August 9 and 10, 2019. Epstein, a disgraced financier facing multiple charges including sex trafficking, was found unresponsive in his cell on the morning of August 10 and later pronounced dead in the hospital. The coroners ruled his death as suicide by hanging, a conclusion supported by an FBI and Department of Justice investigation.

The released footage, part of the investigation initiated by a campaign pledge from former US president Donald Trump, shows Epstein in an orange jumpsuit being escorted to his cell by guards on the night of August 9. Although the footage does not show his cell door, it captures movements towards it. The investigation found that no one else approached Epstein's cell between 10:40 p.m. on August 9 and 6:30 a.m. the next day, except for the guards.

The joint FBI and DOJ investigation concluded that Epstein's death was not a murder, and he was not involved in blackmailing powerful individuals or maintaining a client list. Epstein, known for his connections to prominent figures like Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and Ghislaine Maxwell, faced several conspiracy theories following his death. The investigation also revealed that no further charges will be filed in connection to the case.

Epstein's history of sexual predation dates back to 2005 when allegations surfaced about his misconduct with a 14-year-old girl. Despite facing charges, Epstein managed to secure a lenient plea deal that allowed him to serve a short prison sentence with work release privileges. He was later registered as a level three sex offender in New York. The investigation into Epstein's activities on his private island in the US Virgin Islands continues, with the FBI urging anyone with information to come forward.
