Niko Springer, ranked 70th in the world, won the Hungarian Darts Trophy by defeating Danny Noppert 7-6 in the final after overcoming Luke Humphries earlier in the tournament.

In the final, the 25-year-old German was trailing 5-3 but managed to come back and secure victory by hitting double eight in the last leg.

Before the final, Springer had beaten Luke Humphries and Josh Rock to reach the championship match. Noppert, the winner of the UK Open in 2022, defeated Luke Littler in the semi-finals but fell short against Springer in the final, despite hitting seven 180s.

Gerwyn Price, ranked seventh in the world, was set to face Littler in the quarter-finals but had to withdraw from the tournament due to medical reasons.

Top players are now preparing for the World Grand Prix starting on October 6 in Leicester.
