Panthers Coach on Considering Benching QB Before Comeback
On Sunday, Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young recovered from a loss and a possible benching. In Week 5, Young helped the Panthers secure a 27-24 comeback victory against the Miami Dolphins. Despite a rough start with a fumble and an interception leading to a 17-0 deficit, Young showed resilience throughout the game according to head coach Dave Canales.
Canales praised the team's maturity in facing adversity and highlighted the importance of responding positively to challenges. Young completed 19 of 30 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns during the game. His touchdown passes were caught by Xavier Legette and rookie tight end Mitchell Evans.
When asked about considering benching Young after his turnovers, Canales emphasized the need to keep playing football, execute well, and maintain a balanced attack. The Panthers' strong offensive performance resulted in a season-high of 239 rushing yards, with running back Rico Dowdle leading with 206 rushing yards.
With this win, the Panthers, who achieved one of their largest comeback victories in franchise history, now hold a 2-0 record at home this season.
