Penguins trade for goalie Silovs from Canucks

On July 13, 2025, the Pittsburgh Penguins acquired goaltender Arturs Silovs from the Vancouver Canucks. In exchange, they sent forward Chase Stillman and a 2027 fourth-round pick.

Silovs, aged 24, is under contract until the 2025-26 season with an average annual value of $850,000. He was drafted by the Canucks in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL Draft and has played 19 games in the NHL since 2022, maintaining a 3.13 goals-against average and .880 save percentage.

Silovs played for the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks last season, helping them win the Calder Cup Championship and earning the playoff MVP title. During the regular season, he achieved a .908 save percentage and 2.41 goals-against average in 21 games. In the playoffs, he had a 2.01 goals-against average and .931 save percentage with five shutouts.

During the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs, Silovs stood out when injuries led him to play for the Canucks. He secured a win in Game 4 and achieved his first NHL shutout in a series-clinching victory against the Nashville Predators in Game 6.

Chase Stillman, 22, a 2021 first-round pick of the New Jersey Devils, was part of the trade. He played 65 AHL games last year, scoring four goals and 12 points.
