Phoenix officers cleared in beating death; videos reveal different truth

Phoenix police have provided conflicting explanations about the events that occurred when two off-duty officers witnessed a man being fatally punched outside a downtown club. Video footage of the incident contradicts both accounts given by the police.

According to police records obtained by The Arizona Republic, the officers were found to have committed only a minor policy violation in relation to their actions during the altercation on March 16. The brawl resulted in the death of 22-year-old Rafael Montoya.
