Premier League surprise wins PFA Young Player of the Year

A Premier League player has won the PFA Young Player of the Year award after a successful season in the English top flight and Europe. Several young talents, including Myles Lewis-Skelly from Arsenal and Liam Delap from Chelsea, were in contention for the award. Ethan Nwaneri from Arsenal, Dean Huijsen from Real Madrid, and Milos Kerkez from Liverpool were also shortlisted. However, Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa emerged as the winner through a vote by the association's members.

Rogers, aged 23, attracted interest from Unai Emery after an impressive season with Middlesborough in 2023-24. He scored 14 goals and provided 16 assists in his debut season with Aston Villa. Rogers even achieved a Champions League hat-trick in a match against Celtic. Despite his success, there are rumors of potential transfer offers during the summer window, with Chelsea showing interest in signing him. Aston Villa is reportedly planning to offer Rogers an improved contract to retain him.

In the women's category, Arsenal's Olivia Smith received the PFA award after her debut season in English football. Smith, who was once Canada's youngest senior international, played for Liverpool last season before moving to Arsenal in North London.
