Putin Agrees to 'NATO-Style' Security for Ukraine

Sir Keir Starmer and European leaders will join Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Washington tomorrow. This follows a meeting between the US president and Vladimir Putin on Friday.

Today, Kyiv's European allies met virtually before Zelenskyy's upcoming talks with Donald Trump. Leaders such as Sir Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron will accompany the Ukrainian president to the White House.

During the virtual meeting, the coalition's co-chairs reiterated their readiness to deploy a reassurance force after hostilities cease. They expressed continued support for Ukraine and praised Zelenskyy's efforts for a just and lasting peace. The leaders also acknowledged Trump's commitment to providing security guarantees to Ukraine.

Zelenskyy addressed various issues in a series of posts, emphasizing the importance of a ceasefire and stating Ukraine's stance on territorial integrity. He also highlighted the need for security guarantees involving the US and Europe.

The coalition of the willing, including European leaders, discussed the importance of supporting Ukraine and the necessity of ending the violence. They emphasized respecting Ukraine's sovereign right to determine conditions for peace.

The virtual meeting concluded with a focus on supporting a peace deal in Ukraine. Zelenskyy and European leaders are preparing to meet with Donald Trump in Washington to present a united front and discuss security guarantees for Ukraine. Special US envoy Steve Witkoff mentioned that Putin agreed to allow the US and European allies to offer Ukraine a security guarantee similar to NATO's collective defense mandate.
