Volodymyr Zelenskyy Receives Letter from King Charles on Ukraine's Independence Day
Ukraine's President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, shared an "inspirational" letter from King Charles on Ukraine's Independence Day. Meanwhile, a downed drone in Russia's Kursk region caused a fire at a nuclear plant overnight.
Russia's foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, stated that security guarantees should be agreed upon by consensus after Ukraine's allies discussed protections earlier in the week. Lavrov mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin is willing to meet with Zelenskyy when the agenda is set but indicated that Putin may not sign a peace agreement with the Ukrainian president.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude following a prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine, noting that Ukrainian citizens were returning home. He also thanked the UAE for their assistance in the exchange.
Former UK national security adviser, Lord Ricketts, believes Putin miscalculated by invading Ukraine in 2022, stating that Russia has suffered losses and failed to achieve its objectives. Ricketts mentioned that Russia's actions have led to increased NATO presence and European support for Ukraine.
