Real Madrid Player May Stand Trial for Sharing Explicit Video
The Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio and three former youth players from the club may face trial for their alleged involvement in filming and sharing a sexual video. The incident has caused post-traumatic stress symptoms in two women, one of whom was a minor.
A judge in Gran Canaria completed a preliminary investigation into the incident, which reportedly occurred at a beach club on the island on June 15, 2023. The judge has prepared a criminal case summary and handed the file to prosecutors, focusing on the four footballers accused of filming and sharing sexual videos involving a minor and another young woman.
The victims, aged 16 and 18 at the time, are said to be experiencing post-traumatic symptoms due to the ordeal. The alleged offenses include sharing secrets without consent, violating privacy, distributing videos without consent, using minors for pornographic purposes, and possessing child pornography.
The individuals involved were not named in the court statement, but Spanish media have identified them as Raúl Asencio and his former teammates Andrés García, Ferrán Ruiz, and Juan Rodríguez. In September 2023, three unnamed Real Madrid reserve players were arrested in connection with the incident and later released after their mobile phone data was seized.
According to reports, the main suspect recorded a consensual sexual encounter with the young girl and shared it with other players without her consent. The case began with a complaint from the mother of a 16-year-old girl in the Canary Islands regarding a recorded sexual encounter. Although the girl stated the encounter was consensual, she was unaware of the recording until recently.
Real Madrid confirmed that four youth team players were questioned by the police regarding an alleged unauthorized release of a private video via the WhatsApp messaging system.
