Robin Williams' Son Pens Touching Birthday Tribute to His Dad

Robin Williams, the late acting legend, died by suicide in 2014. His eldest son, Zak, recently shared a heartfelt message on what would have been his father's 74th birthday. Williams passed away at the age of 63 in August 2014, shortly after his birthday on July 21.

Zak, aged 42, expressed his feelings on Instagram, reflecting on the annual period that includes Father's Day, his father's birthday, and the anniversary of his death. He emphasized the non-linear nature of grief and highlighted his father's legacy of kindness and compassion.

Zak honored his father by advocating for living out the values Williams stood for, such as service, compassion, and spreading light in challenging times. He reassured those experiencing loss that they are not alone and paid tribute to his father's memory on his birthday.

Robin Williams was married three times and had three children. Zak is the son of Williams and his first wife, Valerie Velardi. Williams also had two other children, Zelda and Cody, from his second marriage to Marsha Garces Williams. His third wife was Susan Schneider, whom he married in 2011.

In the years following Williams's passing, Zak has consistently remembered his father on his birthday by sharing heartfelt messages and memories. Williams had been battling health issues before his death, having been misdiagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Subsequent autopsy results revealed he had Lewy body dementia, a progressive brain disorder.
