Rodri Returns to Premier League After Lengthy Injury; Ederson Benched by Man City Manager
Rodri to Start for Manchester City Against Brighton
Rodri is set to start his first game in almost a year as Manchester City takes on Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday. The midfielder had been out for most of last season due to an ACL injury but made a comeback towards the end of the campaign and played in the Club World Cup. Despite a setback in the final match of the competition, he returned earlier than expected and featured as a substitute in the last game against Tottenham.
Manchester City fans were pleased to see Rodri's name in the starting lineup for the upcoming match at the Amex stadium. Pep Guardiola expressed his delight at having the influential midfielder back, emphasizing his importance to the team.
Rodri's last start in the Premier League was in September last year when he got injured in a collision with Thomas Partey. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Ederson was once again left on the bench, with new signing James Trafford taking his place. City is considering Paris Saint-Germain's Gianluigi Donnarumma as a replacement for Ederson, should they decide to sell him.
PSG's asking price for Donnarumma is £40m, and Fenerbahce has shown interest in Ederson, who has been with Manchester City for nine seasons. The Italian goalkeeper has been sidelined by PSG after they acquired Lucas Chevalier, known for his superior footwork and distribution skills.
