Russell Secures Dominant Pole in F1 Singapore Qualifying

F1 is heading to Singapore for the Marina Bay Street Circuit, hosting the Singapore Grand Prix and round 18 of the 2025 season. Oscar Piastri leads the world championship by 25 points after his McLaren teammate Lando Norris finished seventh in the previous race in Azerbaijan.

Max Verstappen won in Baku, closing the gap to Piastri to 69 points. George Russell finished second despite being ill, with Carlos Sainz taking his first Williams podium in third. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc struggled in Baku.

In the qualifying session, George Russell secured the top spot, followed by Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri. Lando Norris is set for a big lap to improve his position. The battle for pole position is on among 10 drivers.

In Q2, Charles Leclerc moved up to sixth place, while Albon and Tsunoda failed to advance. The bottom five included Hulkenberg, Albon, Sainz, Lawson, and Tsunoda. A teenager impressed by moving from 15th to 1st place.

In the next phase of qualifying, Gasly faced a hydraulic issue and stopped at turn 11, finishing in 20th place. The bottom five in Q1 were Bortoleto, Stroll, Colapinto, Ocon, and Gasly. Antonelli secured the second-fastest time.

With two minutes left in Q1, Norris was the quickest, while Tsunoda and Antonelli were in the bottom five. Antonelli may have been blocked by Sainz at turn 1. The slowest five drivers will be eliminated in the first qualifying session.
