Sarah Baker Appointed Deputy Chief Constable of Humberside Police

Former Assistant Chief Constable of Humberside Police, Sarah Baker has been appointed as the force's Deputy Chief Constable (DCC). DCC Baker joined the force in December last year from the National Police Air Service, where she was on secondment from her home force of West Yorkshire, where she started her 23-year policing career.

She is an accredited Strategic Firearms Commander, a gold Public Order Commander, and a Gold Multi-Agency Incident Commander, having held various roles in her career from roads to neighbourhood policing and CID to becoming a District Commander.

In her new role, DCC Baker expressed her honor and privilege in being appointed as Humberside’s Deputy Chief Constable. She aims to continue the force's recognition as an outstanding police force in the UK and deliver the best possible service to communities in the future by shaping and developing Humberside’s direction and priorities aligned with community needs.

Taking over from former DCC Dave Marshall, who retired earlier this month, DCC Baker will oversee the management and operational leadership of the force, with specific responsibilities for Professional Standards, Corporate and Legal Services, and Corporate Communications. She emphasized her interest in governance, accountability, and performance, highlighting the importance of strategic leadership in her new role.

DCC Baker stressed the police service's core mission of protecting the public and ensuring their safety, expressing her commitment to delivering an outstanding service across Hull, East Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire, and North East Lincolnshire. She emphasized Humberside's focus on victims, communities, and workforce, stating her pride in being part of the force.

Her appointment followed a competitive selection process.
