Senators' Shane Pinto Focused Amid Contract Talks

Shane Pinto, a forward for the Ottawa Senators, is starting the season with an expiring contract. Despite this, he is focused on training camp and not preoccupied with a contract extension at the moment. Pinto, who scored 21 goals and 37 points in the 2024-25 season, is also a gold medalist from the IIHF World Hockey Championship and attended Team USA's Winter Olympics orientation camp.

Pinto, 24, is entering the second year of a two-year, $7.5 million deal signed in July 2024. He has played for the Senators for five seasons since being drafted in 2019, accumulating 51 goals and 107 points in 210 career games. Pinto expressed his desire not to be a distraction during the season and emphasized the importance of focusing on the team's performance.

Senators' president of hockey operations and general manager, Steve Staios, mentioned positive discussions with Pinto's agent a few weeks ago. Staios acknowledged the importance of Pinto to the team and expressed readiness to continue negotiations to secure him as part of the core team. Pinto has been training alongside team captain Brady Tkachuk and Claude Giroux, focusing on improving his quickness and physicality for the upcoming season.
