Shropshire Hospitals Bring Back Face Masks Amid Covid Surge

Two hospitals are reintroducing mandatory face masks in specific areas due to an increase in Covid-19 cases. The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust will enforce this measure at parts of the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Telford's Princess Royal Hospital starting Wednesday.

Visitors at both hospitals will be provided with face masks. The trust advises against visiting if individuals have any infections like a cold, flu, sore throat, diarrhea, vomiting, or a chest infection.

The decision to require face masks follows guidance from NHS England. Designated areas where face masks are mandatory include emergency care units, medical assessment areas, children's wards, respiratory wards, and cancer wards.

The trust mentions that individuals who believe they are exempt from wearing masks should consult with hospital staff. If feeling unwell but having a hospital appointment, people are advised to contact the relevant department for guidance.
