Jane Morgan, a singer known for her appearances on television in the 1950s and 1960s and her work on Broadway, has passed away at the age of 101. She was born Florence Catherine Currier in Newton, Massachusetts on May 3, 1924. Her parents were musicians, and she pursued a career in music from a young age, studying at the Juilliard School in New York with the goal of becoming an opera singer.
Morgan started her career as a nightclub singer and gained fame in Paris, leading to a recording contract with Polydor. She returned to New York and released her debut album in 1956. Morgan became well-known for her appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show and other television programs. She also performed on Broadway in various productions.
In 1965, Morgan married film producer Jerry Weintraub and together they adopted three daughters. Despite separating in the 1980s, they never divorced and later reconciled. Weintraub passed away in 2015. Morgan died of natural causes in Naples, Florida, with her family confirming her peaceful passing in her sleep.
Throughout her career, Morgan made occasional appearances at special events and benefits after mostly retiring from performing in 1973. She also worked as a production assistant on films with her husband, including the 2001 remake of Ocean's Eleven. In her later years, she preferred to be known as Jane Weintraub and performed at a tribute to her husband in Beverly Hills in 2009.
