Striker Davy McDaid and defender Niall Quinn join Glenavon's interim management.

Striker Davy McDaid and defender Niall Quinn have been named as part of Glenavon's interim management team for their upcoming match against Portadown on Saturday.

Glenavon took this decision after parting ways with head coach Paddy McLaughlin due to a poor start to the season, leaving the team at the bottom of the table without a win in their first nine games. Coaches Marty McCann and Colin Coates also left the club following McLaughlin's departure.

The club announced on Wednesday that McDaid and Quinn, along with coaches Tim Lennon and Ryan Prentice, will lead the team in the interim for the Portadown game at Shamrock Park.

Glenavon chairman Stephen Best stated that the board will carefully select the next manager after opening applications for the position on Monday. The decision to change the management team was made after a meeting of the board following the game against Crusaders on Saturday, citing poor performances as the reason.

Best expressed gratitude to Paddy and his staff for their efforts and wished them success in the future. He emphasized the importance of fan support for the team and urged fans to show their backing during matches, especially in the upcoming crucial game against Portadown at Shamrock Park.
