Japan's Takehiro Tomiyasu Leaving Arsenal by Mutual Agreement

Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is leaving the club by mutual agreement to terminate his contract. Tomiyasu, who has won 42 caps for Japan, is currently recovering from knee surgery after playing only six minutes last season. He faces up to five more months out as he continues his rehabilitation from the surgery he had in February. The 26-year-old had missed the start of the previous season due to a knee injury that required surgery in 2023.

Although Tomiyasu's contract was set to expire at the end of next season, Arsenal and the player have reached a settlement to end the contract early. Since joining Arsenal from Bologna in 2021, Tomiyasu has made 79 appearances for the club. Arsenal is now looking at defensive reinforcements for the upcoming season, with Valencia center-back Cristhian Mosquera being considered as a target. Kieran Tierney has already departed Arsenal to join Celtic, and there is a possibility that Oleksandr Zinchenko may also leave before the summer transfer deadline on September 1.
