Taylor Swift Reveals New Album on Travis Kelce's Podcast
Taylor Swift Announces New Album During Podcast
Taylor Swift has revealed her 12th studio album, "The Life of a Showgirl," following a period of intense speculation from fans lasting 24 hours.
Speculation began on Monday morning when the singer's marketing team posted a carousel of 12 photos with the caption "Thinking about when she said 'See you next era…"
Following this, her boyfriend Travis Kelce confirmed that she would be a guest on his podcast, "New Heights," and Swift's official website started a countdown to 00:12 ET (05:12 BST).
Her 11th album, "The Tortured Poets Department," released last year, set a Spotify record for the most-streamed album in a day.
The album title was announced on social media with a clip from Kelce's podcast and was made available for pre-order on Swift's official website simultaneously.
Fans who pre-ordered the album were informed that it would ship before October 13, but clarified that "this is not the release date."
The official release date for the new music is still pending confirmation.
After a period of headline-making during her record-breaking Eras tour, Swift seemed to have a relatively quiet start to 2025.
In May of this year, it was revealed that she had reacquired the rights to her first six albums, concluding a long-standing battle over the ownership of her music.
Following the sale of her original masters, Swift pledged to re-record all six albums, known as "Taylor's Versions." Currently, she has re-released four of the original six.
Swift shared her acquisition of her original masters in a heartfelt letter to fans, mentioning that the final two albums would "have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right."
A countdown appeared on Taylor Swift's official website late on Monday evening.
The Eras tour concluded in December 2024 after 149 shows in 53 cities.
In the UK alone, she performed for nearly 1.2 million people, including eight nights at Wembley Stadium. The tour contributed an estimated £1 billion to the country's economy, leading to Swift officially attaining billionaire status.
Swift has received numerous accolades, including being named Artist of the Decade by the American Music Awards, holding the record for the most awarded artist at MTV's Video Music Awards, and winning 14 Grammys, including an unprecedented four Album of the Year awards.
