Two years ago, Jérémie Papin, the former senior vice president of Nissan Motor Co. and chairperson of Nissan Americas in Franklin, predicted that electric vehicles would dominate the U.S. market by 2036. He mentioned that Tennessee was on track to become a hub for EV production, emphasizing the importance of producing where vehicles are sold. Papin highlighted the support from the government and the state of Tennessee, noting that many competitors were also manufacturing EVs in the state. Tennessee was expected to play a significant role in EV manufacturing expertise for the foreseeable future.
