Texans Hold Silence, Skip Mentioning Charlie Kirk

The Houston Texans joined other NFL teams in observing a pregame moment of silence during Week 2, but did not mention Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA who was recently killed. The Texans' message before the Monday Night game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers honored victims of violence and natural disasters across the country, lasting for 10 seconds and broadcast on ESPN.

Seven other NFL teams also held moments of silence or reflection during their home games, with five choosing not to mention Kirk. The NFL mandated a moment of silent reflection before the Green Bay Packers game at Lambeau Field. The Texans explained that they opted not to single out any specific tragedy to honor all recent victims of violence and natural disasters.

While the Texans did not mention Kirk by name, the Dallas Cowboys, another Texas-based NFL team, did hold a pregame tribute for Kirk. The Las Vegas Raiders are the only team left to play in Week 2, and it is unclear if they will have a pregame moment of silence and whether Kirk will be mentioned.
