TikTok Trend 'RaptureTok' Forecasts World's End Soon.
According to TikTok, some users believe that the end of the world may be near.
Under the hashtag #Rapture, TikTokers predict that September 2025 could mark the end of humanity, eagerly anticipating an event known as the Rapture. This belief involves faithful Christians being taken up to the sky with Jesus Christ.
Videos on TikTok show users who genuinely think that the world is ending, with some even selling their belongings and quitting their jobs. The trend has attracted attention outside of TikTok, with people following along as if it were a reality TV show.
Many videos offer practical advice on how to prepare for the anticipated event to avoid leaving a mess behind. Those who do not believe are expected to be left behind, so if nothing unusual happens on Tuesday, it may be seen as part of a divine plan.
The flood of Rapture videos has led non-believers to create satirical skits mocking the trend. The predicted date for the Rapture is Tuesday, September 23, as foreseen by South African pastor Joshua Mhlakela, who claims to have seen Jesus in a vision returning on Rosh Hashanah.
Mhlakela emphasized in an interview that the Rapture is imminent, whether people are prepared or not, but later clarified that it is expected to occur on September 23 and 24, 2025. The sense of anticipation is not limited to TikTok, as 2025 has been eventful, creating a foreboding atmosphere across the internet.
The Rapture is a belief that Jesus will descend from Heaven to gather the faithful before divine judgement is passed on Earth. While RaptureTok on TikTok is filled with excitement and speculation about the event, not all Christians accept the concept of the Rapture, with it being mainly held by Evangelicals and viewed as a modern idea related to the Second Coming of Christ.
Predictions about the Rapture and the Apocalypse are not new, with history showing many failed prophecies. Notably, Isaac Newton once predicted the end in 2060, offering another date to anticipate if the predicted events fail to materialize on Tuesday.
