Trent Alexander-Arnold to undergo injury tests

Trent Alexander–Arnold is scheduled for tests to assess an injury he sustained during training. The Real Madrid right–back has been managing muscular pain in his right leg since Tuesday, before the match against Paris Saint–Germain. This injury caused him to miss the Club World Cup semi–final in New Jersey, where Real Madrid suffered a 4–0 defeat by PSG. Alexander–Arnold had participated in all five of Madrid's previous Club World Cup matches following his transfer from Liverpool in early June.

Real Madrid's manager, Xabi Alonso, mentioned that Alexander–Arnold felt some discomfort before the PSG match but it was not suitable for him to play. Alonso acknowledged the setback and expressed hope that the team would manage without him.

In addition, Real Madrid's player Endrick experienced a recurrence of a muscle injury he has been struggling with since May. The 18–year–old was sidelined from the Club World Cup after injuring his right hamstring in the final game of the previous season against Sevilla. Despite initially focusing on recovery in Spain, he later relocated to Miami to be closer to his teammates. However, a setback during training on Monday will extend his absence for several weeks.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid is reportedly nearing a deal with former Manchester United left back Alvaro Carreras. Carreras, 22, who was previously known as Fernandez, began his career at Real Madrid before moving to Old Trafford at 17 in 2020. Although he did not feature for United, he had loan spells at Preston, Granada, and Benfica. Reports suggest that a €50m (£43m) agreement with Benfica has paved the way for Carreras' return to the Bernabeu.
