Trump threatens legal action against news networks, Beyonce, Oprah, and Kamala Harris
At 7:45 p.m. ET on Saturday, President Donald Trump, currently golfing in the UK, made baseless allegations on social media. He threatened to prosecute Kamala Harris, Oprah Winfrey, and Beyonce, claiming they were paid illegally during the 2024 election. Trump also criticized news networks, suggesting their licenses could be revoked.
Trump alleged that Beyonce was paid $11 million to endorse Harris, which he claimed was illegal. He also accused Democrats of paying $3 million to Oprah and $600,000 to Reverend Al Sharpton. However, there is no evidence supporting these claims.
In response, Trump insisted that paying for endorsements is illegal and called for prosecution of those who received endorsement money. Both Harris and Beyonce's campaigns have denied these allegations, stating that payments made were for legitimate production costs.
This is not the first time Trump has targeted celebrities over alleged illegal campaign donations. He has previously made similar accusations against Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, and Bono. Trump has also threatened NBC and ABC, suggesting that networks he views as biased should have their licenses revoked.
Trump has a history of using legal threats against media outlets and journalists. He has reached financial settlements with ABC News and CBS News in the past. Recently, he filed a $10 billion lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch, The Wall Street Journal, and others over the publication of a letter to Jeffrey Epstein. Additionally, he settled a $16 million lawsuit with Paramount over an edited 60 Minutes interview with Harris.
