US Justice Department Seeks Meeting with Ghislaine Maxwell
Ghislaine Maxwell is serving 20 years in prison for helping Jeffrey Epstein abuse young girls
The US Justice Department has requested a meeting with Ghislaine Maxwell, an associate of Jeffrey Epstein, to discuss what information she may have. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that they intend to meet with Maxwell soon. Maxwell's legal team confirmed they are in talks with the government and she will testify truthfully.
President Donald Trump has faced demands for more transparency in the Epstein case, prompting him to direct Attorney General Pam Bondi to seek the release of relevant grand jury testimony. Blanche emphasized the Justice Department's commitment to pursuing justice and investigating crimes against victims.
Blanche, who previously served as Trump's personal attorney, reiterated the accuracy of a recent statement from the Justice Department and FBI regarding the Epstein case. He stated that no evidence was found in the FBI's review to warrant an investigation against uncharged parties. Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
Maxwell, found guilty of aiding Epstein in sexually abusing young girls, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in June 2022. Her lawyer expressed gratitude to President Trump for his efforts to uncover the truth in the case. Maxwell had sought Supreme Court review of her case, but the Justice Department urged the court to reject the appeal.
During Maxwell's trial, four women testified about being abused as minors at Epstein's properties in various locations. One of the accusers, Annie Farmer, emphasized the toll of the Epstein saga on victims, noting the lack of new information and focus on abusers. The Justice Department's meeting invitation has drawn criticism from some in the MAGA world.
Despite pressure, the House Speaker announced that the chamber will not vote on releasing the Epstein files until September.
