US to sanction Palestinian groups for alleged support of "terrorism".

The US has announced sanctions on the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO). The sanctions involve denying visas to PLO members and PA officials. This move is seen as a response by the Trump administration to recent international support for a two-state solution for Palestine.

France, the UK, and Canada have committed to recognizing an independent, demilitarized Palestinian state later this year, under certain conditions. The US criticized these actions and warned of diplomatic consequences for any "anti-Israel" declarations made at the recent UN conference.

The State Department accused the PA and PLO of internationalizing the conflict with Israel through bodies like the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice. The US and Israel have long-standing complaints about the support for terrorism by the PLO and PA, including incitement to violence and financial support for terrorists.

The sanctions move has been described as "revenge" by a Palestinian politician for the increasing international recognition of Palestinian statehood. The PA has stated that the sanctions are a response to their recent diplomatic achievements.

The UK also announced plans to recognize a Palestinian state in September if Israel does not meet certain conditions. Palestinian leaders have criticized the US for targeting Palestinians instead of addressing Israeli actions in Gaza and the West Bank. Israel, on the other hand, welcomed the sanctions imposed by the US.
