US to Widen Facial Recognition for Travelers
The U.S. government is expanding the use of facial recognition technology for non-U.S. citizens entering and exiting the country. This move is part of the Trump administration's efforts to strengthen border controls and address illegal immigration.
A final rule from the Department of Homeland Security, published in the Federal Register on Monday, mandates that all non-citizens entering and exiting land crossings, airports, and seaports will be photographed. U.S. Customs and Border Protection will utilize facial comparison technology to verify that the live photo matches other images.
