Utah Mammoth Extends Logan Cooley's Contract for $80M

The Utah Mammoth announced on Wednesday that they have signed forward Logan Cooley to an eight-year contract extension worth $10 million per season on average.

The contract, reported by Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, is the third-largest deal signed by a player transitioning from an entry-level contract. It does not include any signing bonuses and is heavily front-loaded with all salary.

In a statement, Cooley expressed his excitement about the extension, citing the camaraderie with his teammates and the support from team owners Ryan and Ashley Smith. He highlighted the positive atmosphere at the Delta Center and the resources provided for the team's success.

Cooley, aged 21, was selected as the third overall pick by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2022 NHL Draft. After playing his rookie season with the Coyotes, he continued his career with the Mammoth following the franchise's relocation to Utah. Cooley has accumulated 53 goals and 121 points in 168 career games, including 8 goals and 12 points in 11 games this season.

Additionally, Cooley was part of the United States' gold medal-winning team at the IIHF World Hockey Championship in Sweden and Denmark earlier this year. The Mammoth currently hold a record of 8-3-0 at the start of the season.
