Viktor Gyokeres prepared to make big sacrifice for Arsenal transfer as Gunners near deal for Sporting Lisbon talent.
Viktor Gyokeres Reportedly Willing to Adjust Salary for Arsenal Move
Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly willing to adjust his future salary to facilitate a move to Arsenal this summer. Mail Sport revealed that Arsenal is close to finalizing a deal for the Swedish striker, valued at up to £70 million. Talks are ongoing to determine bonus payments, with Gyokeres having agreed to personal terms on a five-year contract.
Gyokeres, who has been clear about his desire to join Arsenal, intensified his efforts after RB Leipzig did not lower their valuation of Benjamin Sesko. Reports suggest Gyokeres may skip pre-season training to push for the move. He is even willing to forego €2 million (£1.73 million) from his Arsenal contract to boost the club's bid to Sporting.
Arsenal is in advanced discussions with Sporting for Gyokeres, who has been driving the move to play at the Emirates. Arsenal's latest bid includes an initial €65 million (£56.2 million) with additional €15 million (13 million) in add-ons. Gyokeres recently ended his relationship with his Portuguese girlfriend to distance himself from Lisbon amid his departure from Sporting.
Gyokeres, who rejected interest from Manchester United, has been pursued by Arsenal for months. The club is close to a resolution with Sporting. The forward, who scored 97 goals in 102 games in Portugal, resisted offers from Saudi Pro League teams earlier this summer. Juventus and RB Leipzig were also interested in him.
Initially, Arsenal targeted RB Leipzig's Sesko and Aston Villa's Watkins as well. Gyokeres, who previously played for Brighton and had successful loan spells, is now poised to return to the UK for the next phase of his career.
