Watches stolen from Keanu Reeves in LA found with gang in Chile

Six watches stolen from actor Keanu Reeves in Los Angeles were handed over to the FBI at the US Embassy in Santiago, Chile, nearly 9,000 kilometers away, for return to the owner.

The watches were discovered during a police investigation into home burglaries in the eastern part of Santiago. The gang responsible for the thefts had migrated abroad and continued their criminal activities using the same methods.

One of the suspects was found in Chile with valuable items, including the watches, one of which had a unique inscription. A detective recognized the watch from the John Wick film series, where Reeves had gifted similar watches to his stunt crew.

Authorities found evidence linking the stolen items to Reeves' home in the US. The actor confirmed the watches were his belongings based on photos provided by the Chilean police.

Reeves had previously experienced break-ins at his home in 2014. The recent robbery in 2023 resulted in estimated losses of $7 million.

Investigations are ongoing to determine how the stolen items were brought into Chile. The exchange of intelligence information between countries is crucial in such cases.

The fate of the gang members varies, with some convicted of crimes and others involved in confrontations or arrested in different countries. Law enforcement agencies are working together to combat transnational crimes.

Efforts are being made to strengthen cooperation between the US and Chile to track criminals and prevent such incidents in the future. The ongoing collaboration between the two countries' authorities is essential for delivering justice to victims of such crimes.
